Nossa Senhora das Mercês Church
Nossa Senhora das Mercês Church was built in the second half of the 18th century and represents the Rococo style, which exhibits paintings, sculptures and adornments visually less intense than the Baroque works. The admission is free and the church is located at Largo das Mercês, in the downtown of the Brazilian historical town of Tiradentes. The Masses take place at 8 A.M. on Sundays.
The interior presents beautiful and golden main chapel and rare paintings that represent saints and angels who glorify Nossa Senhora das Mercês. The art of the lining is attributed to the Brazilian artist Manoel Victor de Jesus, who carried out many religous works in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century in the region, including in São João del Rei (other Brazilian historical town).
