Largo do Sol (Square)
Largo do Sol is a wooded and large place next to the Direita Street (one of the main streets in the Brazilian historical town of Tiradentes) and the Main Church of Santo Antônio. The main attractions are the São João Evangelista Church – finished only in the 19th century – and the Padre Toledo Museum, considered the place where the first gathering of a Brazilian underground movement took place in the 18th century.
Largo also presents the statue of Joaquim José da Silva Xavier (known as Tiradentes), member of that underground movement who was sentenced to be hanged in 1792. Curiosity: it's worth seeing the statue of Tiradentes because it presents the more likely Tiradentes' image, different from many Brazil's History books.
