Nossa Senhora do Rosário Church
An attentive visit to the Nossa Senhora do Rosário Church is full of surprise and charm. It's dated 1708 and is one of the oldest churches of the Brazilian historical town of Tiradentes. Nossa Senhora do Rosário was a saint, loved by slaves who went to the place. The only white man that entered the church was the priest during the Masses.
The church has gold like the Main Church of Santo Antônio, which was attended by landlords and landladies, but it was a top secret. How was it possible? The front entrance of the church was always closed and the slaves entered had access because of a side door. So it wasn't possible to notice the gold inside the church. The interior presents symbols of African religions and of Catholicism too because of the contact between slaves from various African regions.
